In additonal to formal learning in the campus environment, the University endeavours to cultivate the community spirit among its students by engaging them in volunteer services for the community. Students who engage in volunteer work learn to better understand the communities around them and gain meaningful experiences that make them more humble and compassionate.
The Department of Soft Skills Competency (DSSC) implemented the "WE CARE, WE ACT" New Village Community Service programme with the aim to create opportunities for students to mingle, interact and work with various new village communities outside the cities with the aim to create meaningful social changes.
The activities include health campaign, English & IT tuition, waste recycle campaign and projects, school safety projects, school motivational camp, school/ village beautification projects and many others. The programme provides the opportunity for students to act as vital members of the community while developing their leadership and communication skills, and their creativity and resourcefulness in solving problems.
DSSC collaborates with the various faculties and student bodies to meticulously plan all the activities for the programme that would benefit the new village communities.
